Designer Soars With
The Stars At International Fashion Event
Auckland fashion designer Jimmy Lim has been selected as the only New Zealand designer to showcase his Spring/Summer 2011 collection at Malaysia International Fashion Week on November 3 2010.
A
continuation of Jimmy Lim’s fashion journey,
the
designer made his first international debut at Malaysia
International Fashion Week in 2007 with a dramatic runway
show. In his fourth year at the event, his latest
collection, inspired by the emotions of travelling to our
hearts to create the perfect place, is in essence, a place
he describes as utopia.
“I am simply thrilled to be selected to represent New Zealand at such a high-profile international fashion event. It is truly rewarding to attend on the big stage”, says Lim.
The Auckland University of Technology fashion graduate has put hundreds of hours into the collection which incorporates luxurious fabrics with sport-wear pattern blocks for comfort and wearability. Garment cuts are relaxed and nearly gender neutral to give a sense of effortless chic.
Jimmy Lim’s signature colours of black, grey and white dominates the collection, with experimental colours of champagne and ivory combined with accents of silver and gold. His designs are characterised by meticulous construction with jacquard silk blends and faux leather coated cotton to create texture and depth to highlight true sophistication. In addition, hand beading and metal embellishments give a sense of maturity to appeal to Jimmy’s fashion-savvy clientele.
“My collection aims to meet the demands of the cool-crowd who wish to create the ultimate fashion statement. They wear attitude like a uniform to give definition to their identity”, says Lim.
The philosophy behind Lim’s designs is to
‘play’ without restrictions, enabling garments to be
mixed and matched by the wearer to create a truly personal
style.
The first-glimpse of Lim’s collection will be
shown at Malaysia International Fashion Week on November 3
2010 at 4.30pm, at the Pavilion Hall in Kuala
Lumpur.
Malaysia International Fashion Week is a
multi-day event running between November 2-6, showcasing
couture and ready-to-wear fashion. The event is attended by
upscale consumers, invited VIPs & celebrities, the press and
high-end store buyers from around the world.
