November 8, 2010 - A fun 5km event for people with and without disabilities will be held at North Harbour Stadium this month.

The Lion Foundation Hope and Possibility 5km event has been brought to New Zealand by the Achilles International New Zealand. The event aims to promote inclusion by encouraging people of all abilities to enter and participate together. There will be two events; a 5km fun run/walk and a 5km racing chair/handcrank event.

Event organiser Amy Howell says “Hope and Possibility is about removing barriers and encouraging people to achieve their goals. We urge anybody and everybody to sign up and participate in this fun event”.

Entries are now open for the event which will be held on November 28 2010.

Twenty Five year old Rebecca Lawrence has chronic fatigue and has signed up for The Lion Foundation Hope and Possibility 5km.

“I have been training slowly this year to complete a five kilometre walk as I haven't been able to so far but I’m hoping to achieve it at the Hope and Possibility walk” says Rebecca.

The event has been organised to coincide with the high profile Achilles International Hope and Possibility 5 mile Race in New York. It is the first time a Hope and Possibility event has been conducted outside of America.

The exciting event will also feature entertainment, kids’ rides, celebrity guests, spot prizes and food and drink stalls making it a great event for the whole family.
