Art event raises funds for over 30,000 women and children

For the fourth time Auckland law firm Hesketh Henry is combining their appreciation of the arts with fundraising as the platinum sponsor of NZ Sculpture OnShore 2010.

Hesketh Henry is delighted to be able to help raise critical funds for the NZ Women’s Refuges organisation while providing a platform for well-known and emerging artists to showcase their work.

Hesketh Henry’s Managing Partner, Erich Bachmann, says the firm also enjoys being involved in New Zealand's largest outdoor sculpture exhibition while contributing to a very real and significant cause.

“The primary focus of the event is to raise funds. In 2008 over $150,000 was raised and this year we hope to raise the equivalent if not more,” says Erich Bachmann.

Since its inception 15 years ago, NZ Sculpture on Shore and Friends of Women’s Refuges trust has been able to donate over $1.5m to NZ Women’s Refuges to help the victims of family violence.

Commenting on the firm's involvement with the event and its cause, Erich Bachmann says that Hesketh Henry believes that long term business success requires a strong commitment to the community in which it operates.

“The public display of artwork in a spectacular setting and the support that it provides for a very worthwhile cause is a powerful combination that underlines that commitment,” says Erich.

Sue Harvey, the Chairperson of NZ Sculpture on Shore added that "The remarkable setting at Fort Takapuna overlooking Narrow Neck Beach and Rangitoto, the impressive line up of works and the important charitable organisation that we are supporting will ensure the success of NZ Sculpture OnShore 2010.”

Featuring over 100 brand new works the event showcases well –known artists such as Gretchen Albrecht, Terry Stringer, Sally Tagg, Peter Lange, Barry Brickell, Bronwynne Cornish, Gill Gatfield, Humphrey Ikin, Paul Dibble, Christine Hellyar, Gregor Kregar, Paora Toi Te Rangiuaia and Christian Nicolson alongside emerging New Zealand artists.
