Fairfax Magazines Readership has Kiwi Audiences Covered

The latest Nielsen National Readership Survey released today shows leading lifestyle publisher Fairfax Magazines has the reading interests of New Zealand covered. Fairfax Magazines now reaches an audience of 2.169* million people across its stable of titles.

One of the jewels in the Fairfax crown is NZ Life and Leisure, which has achieved one of the most significant growth results in the Home and Lifestyle** category year-on-year. Readership for this title is up 21.3 per cent, now reaching 114,000 New Zealanders.

NZ Life and Leisure Editor, Kate Coughlan, says; "These exciting readership results reinforce what we are hearing from our readers, that NZ Life & Leisure is about all the things that really matter to them at the moment. They love the authentic, high quality ‘New Zealandness’ of it and how it turns a spotlight on the very best of New Zealand."

New Zealand’s biggest selling newsstand magazine, The TV Guide, has also grown its year-on-year readership by 16,000 readers to reach 661,000 New Zealanders aged 10+.

Fairfax Magazines home and gardening titles have attracted strong readership results. NZ House & Garden has seen growth for three consecutive periods, now reaching 552,000 New Zealanders. Cuisine has been a long time stand-out market leader in the food category and records a consistent readership result of over 400,000. NZ Gardener also grew its readership, increasing by 5.1 per cent year-on-year to reach 328,000 people aged 10+. NZ Lifestyle Block is up 16.7 per cent to 70,000 readers.

Fairfax’s male interest magazines have performed well over the year, the most impressive of which is NZ Fishing News which is up 38,000 readers or 14.4 per cent now connecting with 302,000 New Zealanders aged 10+. Other star performers include, Boating NZ which is up 11.0 per cent to 141,000 readers and NZ Autocar is up 9.4 per cent to 175,000 readers.

Amongst the Fairfax business stable, IT publication Computerworld grew its readership by a significant 48.7 per cent, reaching 58,000 New Zealanders.

Fairfax Magazines General Manager, Lynley Belton, said the strong readership result across the portfolio of leading titles is very encouraging and demonstrates the continuing popularity of quality magazines.

“These latest figures show that Fairfax Magazines resonate with readers and successfully engage new audiences,” says Belton.

“More New Zealanders are now picking up our titles and enjoying a great read. Advertisers can take heart that whether they’re trying to reach a broad audience or specific target market, Fairfax Magazines has it covered.”
