One lucky teenager will win a backstage, all access VIP pass to the City Showcase - Finding the Future gig at the Soundshell, Napier this Sunday, November 28th.
The City Showcase festival of new music gets underway this Thursday November 25th with more than 40 bands playing in the Napier CBD, giving Hawke’s Bay teenagers an unprecedented chance to experience a large scale music festival. The weekend of music will finish with an all ages, all day gig at the Soundshell, with gates opening at midday and finishing at 9pm.
Headlining at the Soundshell will be top New Zealand bands Soljah, Autozamm, I am Giant and Lisa Crawley.
Hawke’s Bay band The Phil Edwards Band will also play at the Soundshell gig after winning a nationwide Radio Network Competition to gain direct entry into the finals.
The public must vote throughout the weekend for their favourite band to play at the Soundshell with music industry panellists selecting a winner who will go on to play City Showcase London 2011.
Bands will be playing at Napier inner city retail stores and cafes, including the Jagermeister Bus, throughout the weekend and at evening gigs including The Cabana, the Sideline Bar, The Cathedral and Kazba.
City Showcase organisers are offering a number of discounts to schools and under 18’s including wristbands for $20 (normal price $30) for schools who organise a group.
Teenagers under 18 can also purchase wristbands at the $20 discounted price by tagging the name TABITHA on FACEBOOK. Discount tickets can also be purchased from the War Memorial Centre on Thursday 25th from 4pm-6pm, at the Kazba from 11am on the 27th and at the Soundshell from 10am on November 28th.
The wristbands will allow entry into all weekend gigs, including the “all ages” launch at the War Memorial on November 25th, starting at 6.30pm with headline act Annah Mac performing together with local band Valve and two bands with Havelock North links, “Tuesday’s Gone” and Gareth Malan. The evening will be presented by Mike Chunn of CEO of “Play it Strange”.
Wristbands also allow entry into the music industry workshops, billed as a “must” for all aspiring musicians. Details of all workshops are available on the City Showcase website. www.cityshowcase.net
All wristband holders aged under 18 will then go into the draw to win the VIP package at the Soundshell on Sunday.
