Festival of the Elements
THE ELEMENTS FESTIVAL – TOTALLY COOL!
The power and life of water is the primary element integral to celebrations at the 2011 Festival of the Elements this Waitangi Day, February 6, at Te Rauparaha Park, Porirua.
The Festival is a fantasia of arts culminating to celebrate the cultural diversity of Porirua, made possible by the Treaty of Waitangi. Earth, wind, fire and water are significant to all people and are elements of unity in celebration. Tangata Whenua and Tangata Tiriti will rejoice together by way of the arts on this special one day festival.
The Porirua Arts Council are proud to present yet another unique collection of performers, from story tellers, dancers and musicians to wickedly talented ice sculptors. Regular festival goers will find many of the attractions that they love and may also be surprised by several items new to the Festival.
Margaret Armour, Festival Coordinator, says that “we have such an exciting line up of talented artists and different shows – it will be outstanding!”
The day begins with an opening ceremony at 12 noon and continues through to 7:30 pm. It is the best FREE family day out on Waitangi Day on offer anywhere.
