Cadbury Dairy Milk Launches Summer of Joy

Cadbury Dairy Milk Launches Summer of Joy

December 2010 - Kiwis are in for a treat this season as Cadbury Dairy Milk launches Share the Joy, a movement that encourages Kiwis to say ‘yes’ more often to moments of joy and sharing it with those who matter.

Aaron Jarden, President of New Zealand’s Association of Positive Psychology and author of his own International Well-Being study, is a huge supporter of initiatives that encourage individuals to take time out to experience joyful moments and then sharing those moments with friends and family.

“Joy is a vital component in the spectrum of happiness – it is one of the most positive emotions we can feel and the spin-off is enormous. It contributes to our psychological well being, enhances our creativity, improves our relationships and makes us more productive,” says Jarden.

The party begins with a white Christmas in Auckland, as the stunning Cadbury Dairy Milk Share the Joy Snow Globe is unveiled in Okahu Bay from Saturday 11 December. The Globe brings a new experience to those who have never celebrated the magic of a northern hemisphere Christmas, including a festive snow man, glistening fairy lights and a beautifully decorated snow clad Christmas tree.

Wellington follows with Cadbury Dairy Milk Share the Joy Clap Your Hands Christmas Lights. The lights switch on from Thursday, 16 December in the capital’s stunning waterfront strip of Oriental Parade. This magical light display will not only appear out-of-this world, but is sound activated. A sign, ‘If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands’, will prompt watchers-on. Once they start clapping, the lights illuminate from the bottom of the house upwards. The more you clap, the higher the lights climb until they reach the top and illuminate “Share the Joy”. Christchurch shares the joy on Wednesday, 8 December when Cadbury Dairy Milk makes the AotearoaHA Comedy Carnival free to a comedy-loving audience of Cantabrians.

Additionally, an exciting series of outdoor events and activities roll out nationwide throughout the upcoming summer.
Published author Aaron Jarden says, “What we’ve found is that the demands of modern-day life mean people are less likely to proactively seek moments of joy. Instead, it’s become much more compartmentalised into special occasions like Christmas, New Year, birthdays and so on.

“So seeking spontaneous moments of joy is something that we should all be doing on a much more regular basis. Especially as we know that joy is incredibly contagious.
“Although we’re still in the process of measuring the contagiousness of joy, anecdotally we believe that by simply expressing joy, the pass on effect is prolific. This is now even visible on social networks sites like Facebook and Twitter, where people are directing their joy on a regular basis,” says Jarden.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Share the Joy will be capturing moments throughout summer on a dedicated website www.sharethejoy.co.nz, encouraging New Zealanders to upload their best moments and be in for a chance to win a cash prize of $2,500 for the best clip.
