Joine shining light for BSL Racing

BSL Racing have endured a further run of racing at the 40 Lap ‘King of the Springs’ meeting held last night, with the teams only shining light being Trewen Joine taking victory in the F2 Midget feature.

Both of the team’s A-grade drivers continued their run of bad luck. Alach started well in his first heat, progressing through the field after starting towards the rear of the field. However, a brake pipe failure left the former New Zealand champion on the infield after just four laps. In his second heat, Alach followed home American Brad Loyet for second, although the first heat result meant he would again have to come from the B-main to qualify for the feature.

Meanwhile the #25 Aggressor-Mopar of Scott Buckley continued to struggle with an intermittent problem that has bugged the team throughout the whole international series, now thought to be in the fuel system. Buckley showed his strong pace, taking third in his opening heat, but then retired from his second heat on the opening lap. The problems meant Buckley did not start the B-main, meaning he would not take the start in the feature.

Alach started mid pack in the B-main and by keeping his nose clean in a carnage filled race took second place to put him in the 18th starting spot for the feature.

Meanwhile Trewen Joine was having a far better run. After a fourth and a second in his two heats, Trigger left the field behind to take victory in the 6-lap feature race.

Having previously charged from the back on more than one occasion over the 2010/11 season, Alach was looking to once again mix with the front runners, however a mistake from American Davey Ray and the ensuing contact left Alach parked in the concrete wall and out of the race.

The BSL Racing team now prepare for the final round of the International Midget Series which includes the World 50 Lap championship feature race.
