Outgames registrations pass 1,300


General registrations have closed for the 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames, with over 1,300 people from 21 countries meeting in Wellington, New Zealand, in just two weeks’ time.

The full menu of Outgames activities is no longer open. No further registrations are being accepted for badminton, dancesport, lawn bowls, running, swimming or tennis.

However, last minute registrations remain open for bridge, diving, football, golf, hockey, mountainbiking, squash, tenpin bowling, triathlon, and volleyball. These will close Sunday 6 March.

Last minute conference registrations, and bookings for the arts events in the Outgames registration system, are open until Wednesday 9 March.

The most popular sports at the Outgames will be swimming (166 participants) and running (110 participants). The Human Rights Conference has already attracted 248 participants from around the world.

Dancesport one to watch

“Dancesport, with 87 competitors, will be unmissable for spectators,” says Outgames Co-Chair Virginia Hopkins-Burns. “Not only is the competition being held in Wellington’s magnificent Town Hall, and featuring amazing costumes and talent, but it is being compered by popular television host Tamati Coffey.” The dancesport competion is on Sunday 13 March.

The diving competition at Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre on 15 March has attracted a number of Australian participants, and is also expected to be popular with spectators.

The 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames will be held March 12-19, in Wellington, New Zealand.
