“Every year we have a
small amount of seed funding to help support community-based
events – it could be anything from poetry slams and
open-mike nights, to formal readings and showcases. The more
diverse and accessible the better” says National Poetry
Day Co-ordinator, Siobhan Harvey.
National Poetry Day will be held this year on Friday July 22, 2011.Friday July 22, 2011. Established in 1998, National Poetry Day has grown to become one of the most anticipated events on the arts calendar, with a unique and eclectic range of rap artists, performance poets and poetry slams on offer.
Siobhan Harvey says she is hoping for even more exciting poetry events again in 2011, with an emphasis on large-scale performances, such as last year’s highly-successful event put on by The South Auckland Poets Collective (SAPC) in South Auckland, which galvanised the local community.
To register and request a Funding Application Pack please contact Siobhan Harvey, who will be on hand between now and July 22, 2011 to help any interested parties with advice on organising a National Poetry Day 2011 event.
