New Zealand Fashion Festival TRESemmé Dream Team Winner Announced
Chetan Mongia was announced as the winner of the inaugural New Zealand Fashion Festival TRESemmé Dream Team on Friday.
There were eight finalists, who worked behind the scenes at the event last week. The finalists proved themselves as worthy contestants to a panel of top industry professionals, including hair styling guru Eithne Curran.
Curran says deciding on the winner was a difficult task. “Chetan is an outstanding stylist, who deserves this chance to progress his career.”
“Hair runs through his blood,” says Curran. “His father was a hairdresser to royalty in India and now he is following in his dad’s footsteps. We expect to see great things from Chetan in the future”.
As well as enduring a gruelling week working backstage at New Zealand Fashion Festival, finalists had to prove themselves to beauty editors, trade guests and members off the public in the TRESemmé lounge.
There was also a style challenge where finalists had 45 minutes to select a model, create a modern look for a photo shoot and direct the shoot.
Finally, they underwent interviews with the judging panel to gain an understanding of their strengths, knowledge of the TRESemmé brand and its products, their career prospects and their vision for the future.
All judges were confident that Chetan was the most deserving of the title ‘dream team winner’.
Trudi Brewer, beauty director of ACP Magazines is excited to work with Chetan. “He displayed some real talent! He has strong credentials, is an exceptional stylist and stood out as a clear leader backstage,” she says.
In addition, TRESemmé group brand manager Rachel Beattie says, “The calibre of work that was produced from the dream team was tremendous. I wish the rest of the finalists all the best in their future careers and am looking forward to working with Chetan and Next magazine.”
Chetan will style a shoot in the June issue of NEXT magazine (on sale 16 May 2011).
