Artistic Couple To Share Residency



Harold and Denise Schreurs

The talented duo of Southland artists Harold and Denise Schreurs will make Fusion Gallery and Studio their base for next weekend the 16th and 17th of April as they stop in for a joint residency. Denise is an accomplished realist landscape painter while husband Harold has recently introduced his talent for wood turning to the gallery, both have been extremely popular.

Both Harold and Denise have credited nature as having a huge impact on them artistically. For Denise it provides a beautiful scene for her to capture vibrantly within her paintings and for Harold it gives him the subject material to work with when shaping a piece of wood into a usable dish or ornament. Both have expressed an interest in Photography also, just another feather in the cap of this talented two.

Having dabbled in the arts for the last 13 years Denise has been displaying her work at Fusion since its inception, while Harold’s woodturning has been a more recent introduction both have been extremely popular.

Gallery co ordinator Michelle Wallis has said of the residency “It’s wonderful to have such a talented couple of artists agree to a residency at the gallery, and for them to be married is even more special! Both have been avid supporters of our gallery since before it opened and they offer a diverse experience for the viewing public with 2 such different talents that complement each other so well”.

On the residency the Schreurs said “Being involved with Fusion Gallery and Studio has been a really positive experience for us, to be artists in residence allows us to give something back to the gallery, we are both looking forward to that”.

Harold and Denise Schreurs will be at the gallery on Saturday the 16th between 10 and 3 and Sunday the 17th between 11 – 2. While there Denise will be working on her latest painting and both invite the public to interact with them during their stay.
