A M A Z O N BOARD STORE in Parnell will play host to an art exhibition with a difference.
THE AMAZON ART SMASH 4 CHRISTCHURCH features 10 of New Zealand’s most talented and freaked out contemporary artist’s and do’er’s, - who’ve been pulled together to present a fresh, unusual, out of hand, creative, multiple medium art explosion all in the name of CHRISTCHURCH.
This is a visual connection and
artistic tribute to CHRISTSCHURCH and its community that
remains, on that shaky, ramped up piece of New Zealand.
The AMAZON store in Parnell is working with TRADEME
along with the artists and contributors, to generate a cash
contribution for the Christchurch massive, and help these
buddies from this broken piece of New Zealand community:

mostly within the world of skateboard shreddage, who has an
eye for the unusual. Dave has a unique and raw take on the
young team, and urban environments he shoots for the
magazine he founded 10 plus years ago: MANUAL
MAGAZINE.
Jay Smith.
Jay is perhaps the
most hyperactive shredder in New Zealand. He is known to be
skateboarding at 6.30am, and he snowboard’s waaaaay better
than most. What Jay has presented for this exhibition is
what his mate Dan Buckley has called an ‘art accident’,
with Jay shooting some of the best Christchurch catastrophe
imagery seen IN ANY MEDIA and uploading what he snapped in a
relaxed fashion to facebook with some of the wiiiiiittiest
commentary ever seen in the history of facebook.
Ever.
The elusive BM D.
The BM D
don’t want to be known, they just want there work to be
shown. Good dudes/girls/whatever they are. Doing it for the
CH CH buddies. ART and expression at its realest and best. -
when you run it this way.
Dan Buckley.
This guy was the New Zealand street skateboarding champ back in 97, and since then he hasn’t really done much, other than start this brand called huffer, and create a few piece’s of profound art here and there, and the few piece’s he has for sale for charity here are next level positive affirmations in the extreme. “lets DO THIS ! ” he suggest’s” . - “lets GO THERE !” he implies. “what is this?” he cries.
Guy
Brock.
Guy is young team to the most, freshing up the
Auckland street art scene with an approach to art that
spills across all mediums in a way that saiz – “I can do
it all and I’m going to do it all. That’s all”
Jake Mein.
This guy is the new generation of
skateboarding photographic prowess, if you have ANY
INETEREST in the piece of art that is skateboarding in
general, and if you are at all interested in the re-shaping
of the Christchurch CBD that has gone on in recent times –
and how the two things can possibly be linked, then you will
be interested in the one and only JAKE MEIN.
Louise Simpson.
Louise Is a photographer that
brings a super beautiful level of construction and
production to her inspired photography. She works hard
within her own business BIG COLOUR – which is a commercial

hands on knowledge and skill in a way that her Degree in
Fine art allow’s, - to her photographic snappage – which
is PROLIFIC.
She applies thoughtfully created
photography to unique media, in hand made and interesting
ways. Glass, a range of plastic’s, - fabric and Timber all
get used as the medium for Louie’s super fruity
photographic projection.
Scott
Gardiner.
This guy is built like arnold schwarzeneger,
surfs like you wouldn’t believe, and is a THE BIGGEST name
we have on board in regard to his reputation as a hot young
artist on the way up in the international art scene, he
exhibits wildly and world widely, and has a large following
in fine art investment circles, and very rightly so, his art
is particular, and deep with a strong lean towards being
just straight up: “appealing” aesthetically.
Charles Howells
Charles is a skate rat from
waaay back who has applied his highly refined and
articulately particular sense of style to FASHION
PHOTOGRAPHY. Charles has worked on a huge level – shooting
the likes of Beyonce while working in New York and shooting
about 1 million metro covers amongst his huge portfoilio of
work, we at AMAZON are stoked to have managed to get our
hands on one of his framed works of art.
