Racing at Eagle Farm on Saturday saw New Zealand Bloodstock graduate Royal Reign notch up her first black type win, taking out the A$80,000 Listed James Squire Tails Stakes (2136m).
Trained by William Pholi at his Ballina base, six-year-old Royal Reign (Viscount x Mirror the Magic) raced third in transit and loomed up to the leaders in the straight, taking over proceedings inside the last 100 metres and holding on to record a strong win.
A winner of nine races from her 42 starts, she has earned her connections over A$240,000 in prize money.
Bred by Megan, Olivia and Simms Davison of Mapperley Stud in Cambridge, Royal Reign was purchased by Caulfield trainer Colin Little from Windsor Park Stud for $37,500 at the 2006 Karaka Premier Sale.
