Crew’s
next move is a step back to the Roots
Culinary
collective, The Next Crew, is back with their next
event….. and this time they’re taking a journey: Back to
the Roots.
Fresh from the sell-out success of their first dinner, in March, Auckland head chefs Nick Honeyman (Dallow’s), Hayden McMillan (Tribeca) and Mark Southon (The Foodstore), will push the boundaries once again in the second of their ART (Aotearoa Raw Talent) series this winter.
Hopping over from the other side of the ditch to join the action will be a talented team from the Next Crew’s Australian counterpart, TOYS (Taste Of Young Sydney) collective.
Featuring Morgan McGlone (ex Flinders Inn, Sydney), Dan Wilson (Huxtable, Melbourne) and Analiese Gregory, (Quay, Sydney), the chefs will be jetting in to give the kiwi boys a run for their money.
Part of the inspiration behind The Next Crew’s ART series, the TOYS collective is the brainchild of Morgan McGlone and restaurant consultant Melissa Leong. Expanding to include crew from Sydney and Melbourne, the collective exists to push the culinary envelope and present exciting events.
Held over two nights, the dinner will be hosted in a secret location within SkyCity, Auckland, with each chef presenting a course that tells the story of their own beginnings. Given the combined crew’s multicultural mix, diners can expect the unexpected.
“Each of us will be putting our own spin on what it means to go back to our roots,” says Honeyman.
“Whether it’s a good old Maori “boil-up” from New Zealand-born, Sydney chef Morgan or something inspired by the nature of the Waitakere’s from true-blue Westie Hayden, expect the evening to be unorthodox.”
Among a collection of supportive industry members, The Next Crew is excited to announce SKYCITY’s involvement as venue host for round two.
General Manager of Food & Beverage for SKYCITY, Danny Bucalo says: “We’re all about food and even more keen on young talent. Seeing these guys take time away from their already full on work schedules to push culinary boundaries and have some fun doing it is great, we’re excited to get behind them for the event.”
With a healthy pinch of trans-tasman rivalry heating things up in the kitchen, diners are certainly in for another exceptional evening.
