COLLABORATIVE INSTALLATION MAKES USE OF CITY RUBBISH

‘MAKING HERE’ is a collaborative art project between Sian Torrington and artists from Pablos Studio. Taking their cue from the urban environment where they live and work - they have created an installation at ROAR! gallery using waste materials from local businesses.

‘Using waste expands our ideas of and what can be used as an art material and what can be expressed.’ (Sian Torrington)
Buildings, streets and car parks are transformed through an abstract art making process into bold colour blocks, drippy floors and wrapped windows.

The project began with a series of workshops in which artists took part to become collaborators. The aim is to encourage thinking about art as an experimental process which does not necessarily end in one object for sale but emphasises the process, and also values the experience of learning and collaboration.

As much about the process of collaboration itself as the city, individual artist voices find their strength within the whole.’ (Sian Torrington)
