48 Hours of Madness Wraps
Creativity was on tap this weekend, with record-breaking numbers of teams turning out for the madness that is the V48HOUR Furious Filmmaking contest.
After surviving for 48hours on adrenaline, passion and sponsor's energy drinks, thousands raced to the finish line to meet the 7pm deadline on Sunday before disqualification. At packed-out venues across the country on Friday teams learnt their film genre and compulsory elements that must include: a prop (a bent piece of a wire), a line of dialogue (“what have you got?”), a character (Bobby Young, an ex-bully), and a camera shot (the freeze-frame ending).
With filmmakers now able to catch-up on some much needed sleep, event organisers have the task of viewing over 800 short films which will be screened in heats in the various regions. Teams not making the City Final’s will be hoping Peter Jackson selects them as a Wildcard which could take them to the Grand National Champs, held at the Civic Theatre in Auckland on 2nd July.
