Dalai Lama To Visit Christchurch On June 7th & 8th

The Dalai Lama Visit Trust New Zealand is pleased to announce that His Holiness the Dalai Lama will make a private visit to Christchurch on June 7th and 8th.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who expressed his sadness at the loss of life, homes, and the suffering of those with personal injury at the time of the February earthquake, has visited the city previously in 1992 and 1996, and on both occasions spoke at the Christchurch Cathedral.

Trust spokesperson, Neil Cameron, said that His Holiness had very fond memories of his previous visits to Christchurch and had requested the opportunity to visit the city en route to Melbourne for the start of a 10 Day Australian Tour on June 9th.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama will offer prayers and speak publicly at the CBS Canterbury Arena, Addington, at 12 noon on Wednesday June 8th.

This will be a free non ticketed event .The CBS Canterbury Arena will open to the public from 10.30am.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is expected to arrive at Christchurch International Airport on a scheduled commercial flight at 12.20pm on Tuesday June 7th.
