Campbell Live - Sharon Armstrong Interview
Campbell Live - Sharon Armstrong Interview
"The main thing I remember is: No, no no, this isn't happening."
From an Argentinean jail, Sharon Armstrong describes the
moment she
realised there was cocaine concealed in her
bag, in an exclusive
two-part Campbell Live report that
screens Monday 30 May and Tuesday 31
May, at 7pm on
3.
In an interview with Mihingarangi Forbes recorded in
the Buenos Aires
jail Unidad 31 where Armstrong is being
held, the former public servant
describes how she met her
online lover, the arrest at Ezeiza airport,
her defence
strategy and the reunion with her daughter and sister.
The interview is the full account of what happened in her words.
Forbes and Campbell Live's John Fleming also spent
a week in Buenos
Aires with Armstrong's family, who talk
about seeing Sharon for the
first time, the conditions in
the prison and the tough decisions ahead.
Forbes says
she and Armstrong spoke off camera about recent events
in
New Zealand, and she was able to update the jailed
Kiwi with news of
mutual friends and
colleagues.
"Leaving the prison was sad knowing regardless
of whether she wins or
loses, she will remain there for a
very long time," says Forbes. "The
prison is cold and
dark, and the cockroaches are
huge."
