The Altered States Release their Debut EP
The Altered States Release their Debut EP ‘The Vanishing Plant’
Thursday, 9 June
2011
For Immediate Release
The 5-piece ambient post-hardcore rock band from Auckland/Salt Lake City, have just released their debut four track EP online. ‘The Vanishing Plant’ melds beautiful, soft vocals and throws them at punk drum beats, catchy guitar riffs, heavy bass lines and epic synth pads.
The EP opens with haunting piano piece ‘Sunsets’ and this progressively builds to a grinding crash in the finale ‘After the Trainwreck’. Dark and twisted lyrics from multiple vocals set the mood for the album.
Recorded live by Robbie James of The Bassment in February 2011, the band mixed the album themselves to sound exactly as they envisioned, with a final master by Kieran Cooper from Freakshow Recordings.
‘The Vanishing Plant’ is available to purchase as a digital download from BandCamp at http://thealteredstates.bandcamp.com/.
You can catch The Altered States play the EP set at The Cabana, Napier on 2 July and at The Masonic Tavern on 15 July. CDs are able to be purchased at these shows.
