Wellington concert
María Isabel Siewers, Argentine
classical guitarist performing in a free concert in
Wellington at Massey University Theaterette on the 28th of
June at 6.15pm.
One of Argentina’s finest classical guitarists, María Isabel Siewers is coming to New Zealand and is giving Wellingtonians an opportunity to hear her exceptional music in a free event proudly supported by the New Zealand School of Music, the Embassy of Argentina in New Zealand and Savarez.
Acclaimed for her extraordinary lyricism, refined artistic temperament and outstanding technique, Maria Isabel has performed in many of the greatest halls, including the Wigmore Hall (London), Konzerthaus (Vienna), Martinu Hall (Prague), Carnegie Hall (New York) and the Théatre des Champs Elysées (Paris). It is therefore to much delight that she has agreed to perform in Wellington at the Massey University Theaterette on the 28th of June from 6.15pm.
Her program will include works of classic Spanish composers Fernando Sor and Francisco Tárrega, and also of the renowned Czech composer Sylvie Bodorová. A significant part of the concert will be devoted to works by Argentine composers such as Maria Luisa Anio, Carlos Guastavino, Máximo Pujol and Alberto Ginastera .
María Isabel says she is excited to be coming back to NZ after more than 20 years since she appeared with the Auckland University Orchestra conducted by Uwe Grodd and as the person in charge of the summer seminar of the NZ Federation of Classical Guitar Societies. She is also looking forward to the opportunity to transport the Wellington audience through a wide spectrum of music from refined folkloric and tango romanticism to a modern universal style.
