Performance art meets teenage sleep-over in “Happy Birthday Lindsay Lohan” at Mygalaxi Gallery, Dixon Street, 1-2 July.
In honour of Lindsay Lohan’s 25th birthday, Wellington based artist Claire Harris will watch all of Lohan’s films in a live performance art work totalling 25 hours and 15 minutes in length. Reworking expected elements of performance art, such as duration, endurance and repetition into an act of fan homage reminiscent of the teen girl ritual of the sleep-over movie marathon, the artist aims to create a surfeit of goodwill and positive attention towards former child actress and current “toxic” starlet Lindsay Lohan as a birthday present for her
“Happy Birthday Lindsay Lohan” opens at 5.30pm Friday 1 July. The performance begins at 6.45pm and will conclude around 8.00pm on Saturday 2 July, finishing with a closing party/birthday party for Lindsay Lohan. The location is Mygalaxi Gallery, basement level, 39 Dixon Street.
