The Art Of Photography

The Photographic Image was made by, The photographic Object was made by, The material for the artist to use is” | Samuel Ostermann | AUT University
2011-1-26

Established in 2007, Boabooks is a publishing house that specialises in contemporary books and multiples. Positioned as a critical platform, Boabooks is involved in developing art editions. Samuel Ostermann’s photographs are monitoring the creative touch of the artist. His creative process arrives as a kit-set, one that is found complete as a book, video, and installation exhibition. He has published the largest number of books of any kiwi artist this year. Samuel’s art-work is formed around a consistent audience of thirty five people.

Samuel is the only kiwi to be included in European publishing for 2010, and also the first kiwi artist to be seen there since Francis Upritchard’s book: Heads of Yesteryear in 2005, and the Billy Apple catalogue: Billy Apple in 2009. Like Billy Apple, Samuel is a supreme example of non-domestic artistic production in New Zealand’s dark places.

Samuel Ostermann is a prize winning graduate of the National Institute of the Creative Arts & Industries. He is an Artists Alliance member as well as a full member of the N.Z. Society of Authors (PEN NZ Inc.) and a former member of Cross Street Studios.
