Leading Swiss-Born NZ Artist Set for NZ Maths Conference Exhibition in Dunedin

Kaikoura’s international artist Ruth Stirnimann will fittingly stage a major geometric art exhibition at the New Zealand maths teachers’ conference in Dunedin next month.

Ruth Stirnimann has had exhibitions and sold works in Buenos Aires, Sydney, New York, Switzerland, Queenstown, Christchurch, Nelson, Cheviot and Kaikoura in the last year. More than 230 match teachers will attend the conference at Otago Boys’ high School on July 18 to 22.

``The long process of painting these works is a cosmic gift to me supporting existence, transforming old structures into more harmonious, higher vibrational form. The work is an expression of pure consciousness.

``I do not “need” numbers to create these shapes of divine harmony, but that I am one with intangible, universal wisdom of geometric beauty. Practically, I create them with rulers, geometrical design equipments; compass and I draw them mostly with pencil on the canvas. It can often take days before the first colour appears on my canvas. I am really interested to see the maths teachers’ reaction to my works.’’

``I love the yin-yang of energies and I will also be displaying a few of my flowing emotional abstract works.

Stirnimann is a Kiwi but was born in Basel, Switzerland. She has been a full-time artist since 2004. Her paintings are expressions of creative, harmonious vibration underlying all life forms. They embrace changing patterns of being and support harmony and balance on a holistic level. She sees her works as healing paintings, restoring harmony and equilibrium on an individual and universal level.

Earlier this year she opened her new studio at Kaikoura, two hours’ drive north from Christchurch, on January 11 at 11.11am. It was called the 11.11.1.11.11 opening exhibition, which was so symbolic of her geometric styles.

She is a clever and sought-after passionate artist who puts all she can in what she creates on the canvas, which is inspired by her flowing energies. She will be staging an exhibition at Lexus Christchurch near the red zone on August 4 to 18 and also exhibiting at the New Zealand Art Show in Wellington July 28-31.
