Handmade for Christchurch have raised $16,650
1 July 2011
Press Release from Handmade For Christchurch
Handmade For Christchurch charity auctions have proudly raised $16,650 to help people and businesses affected by the earthquakes in Christchurch. These proceeds were paid today – ½ to the Christchurch branches of The Salvation Army and ½ to Women’s Refuge to help where most needed.
The initiative to raise funds from handmade was the brainchild of a group of crafty kiwi ladies, most of whom originally met online but all having a strong common desire to make a difference.
We are grateful that Handmade for Christchurch has captured the hearts of many in New Zealand and Australia as well as around the globe. A total of 679 auctions were run over a 3 ½ month period with all auction items being generously donated by a variety of individuals, WAHM’s and larger businesses.
The generosity from people - both donating and bidding - has been astounding and heart warming. Together we have been able to support Christchurch in a very real way.
