Can a Politician be an Historian?
*Can a Politician be an Historian?*
A witness -- and participant -- in the political upheavals of the 1980s, whose effects we still feel today, is the historian Dr. Michael Bassett. He came from an academic background and returned to it after the most atypical Labour Government in New Zealand's history lost office in 1990.
Looking back from this distance we can see the two towering Prime Ministers of that era -- Muldoon and Lange -- both as tragic figures.
Dr. Bassett will be this week's guest In Conversation with Noel Cheer on Triangle/Stratos Television, helping us to understand what drove those confused years.
