For Immediate Press Release

Darren Hunter of Hunter Architecture in Paraparaumu Beach has won awards in a number of categories in the ADNZ (Architectural Designers NZ) Wellington Regional Design Awards The architectural designer won awards at the Lower North Island Regional Design Award presentation held Friday July 8th at Southward Car Museum Kapiti.
Darren was the Wellington Regional Winner in the “Residential New Home Over 250sqm” category and Wellington Regional Winner “Residential Interiors Architectural Design” category. The winning entries were for a home in Te Horo entitled “Five Sheds”. Darren says “the house was designed as five separate rural type shelters each set apart by their individual cladding. The design wishes to express that the buildings were added over a period of time very reminiscent of how rural utility architecture is created.
The sheds relate to each other through the use of colour, proportion and the simplicity of its roof line. The simple lean to roofs evoke a connection to the utility farm sheds found throughout NZ”. He also received the Wellington Regional Finalist “Residential Alterations and Additions” category award for “Mäkoha” – a beach front renovation of a 1950’s home which is now a high end beach retreat.
All three of Darren’s regional award-winning entries now go on to the ADNZ National Design awards, which will be held in Wellington in October.
