Andrew Hall: Comedy and Horror
Andrew Hall
Comedy and Horror
26th July-7th August
Opening preview: Tuesday 26th July 5.30 pm
Do you ever stop for a glorious minute during the hum-drum of life, and see the absurdly animate in the inanimate world around you?
You should. Come and enter the unexpected and mind-altering world of Andrew Hall for a night. An award-winning sculptor who specialises in mad-cap metamorphosis, he has long recognised the comic and imaginative potential of what others would call Junk. A myriad of items in metal, wood and plastic, are fused together in incredible combinations to create hybrids which resonate with a range of associations and references. Wit, drollery, pathos, hilarious horror, and a child-like wonder, characterise Hall’s often humanoid ‘creatures’. Underlying these creations is a rare gift, and a rare sight which has drawn a strong following who recognise in his work an alternative refreshing reality.
