Playmarket Presents The Brown Ink Sessions

MAORI AND PASIFIKA PEOPLES TELLING THEIR Stories For The Stage

PLAYMARKET is committed to drawing out the stories and supporting the talent of Maori and Pasifika Playwrights, and in this, the second annual BROWN INK SESSIONS, the focus is on new writers and new stories.

A series of NEWBIE WRITERS WORKSHOPS are happening around the country in August and September with a focus on the playwright as storyteller. Playwrights Victor Rodger and Stuart Hoar lead practical workshops for Maori and Pasifika people who have a story to tell, and want to tell it on a stage.

Registrations are still open, but space is limited so register today! Email jenni@playmarket.org.nz to register or for more information.

The PLAYMARKET BROWN INK CLINICS took script submissions this month from Maori and Pasifika Playwrights living and working in Auckland – with only two rules; the work must be new (original and unproduced) and must be a complete draft. PLAYMARKET received many more submissions this year and look forward to announcing the successful scripts and writers (who are to receive one-to-one script advice and a full day clinic with a script advisor/director and actors) next month.
