Spring has sprung at Hill St Farmers’ Market!
PRESS RELEASE – 20 September 2011
Spring has sprung at Hill St Farmers’ Market!
With Winter officially over,
and the promise of better weather to come, the Hill St
Farmers’ Market stallholders will be celebrating the
arrival of Spring (and asparagus!) at the market’s annual
Spring Festival on Saturday 24 September
2011.
There will be something for everyone at the
market during the Spring Festival with daffodils and spring
flowers by the bucket load, spring craft for the kids,
traditional English Morris dancing & live music for all to
enjoy. Marketgoers are invited to vote for the “best
dressed Spring stall” and there will be the usual array of
delicious farm fresh vegetables, fruit, free range meat,
artisan bread, preserves, handcrafted cheeses and
more.
The highlight for most marketgoers this weekend
will be the return of Blush Asparagus, a local Horowhenua
based asparagus grower. “Spring produce is eagerly awaited
by most of our customers with asparagus being the
highlight” says Hill St Market Manager, Lynette Vigrass,
“the asparagus grown by Blush Asparagus is so tender and
fresh and customers love the fact they can talk directly to
the person who actually grew and harvested the asparagus.
There’s nothing like local farm fresh produce.”
It
won’t be long before other spring produce, such as new
seasons peas & broad beans are seen at the market as well.
“We’re just so pleased to have Winter behind
us”, says market Trustee Hannah Grainer, “and we want to
thank our loyal customers who’ve stuck with us through
this wet and windy weather. We’re looking forward to some
warmer weather & fun activities at the market in the lead up
to Xmas… and it all starts this weekend with our Spring
Festival”.
Whatever the weather, the Hill St
Farmers’ Market “Spring Festival” will run from
8:30am-12:30pm on Saturday 24 September in the carpark of
the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul in Hill St,
Thorndon.
