Opportunity to meet and learn from renowned filmmaker.

American filmmaker and photographer Mustafa Davis, New York Film Academy graduate has extended his Asia Pacific tour to New Zealand. New Zealanders will have the opportunity to meet and learn from the renowned filmmaker.

Mr. Davis will be hosted by the Muslim Youth Advisory Council (MYAC), an organisation that aims to give a voice to the Muslim youth of New Zealand.

They will be running two workshops and two screenings from the 7th until the 10th of October when Mr. Davis is in Auckland.

One of the workshops will focus on film and photography, whilst the other will explore current youth issues and assist people to tell their own stories through art in easy and accessible ways.

This will provide a chance to interact with Mr. Davis as he draws on his unique background and experiences in the making of his documentaries.

Maryam Khan, Chairperson of MYAC said, “Mustafa Davis will benefit the community immensely and especially the youth. This is too good an opportunity to pass by, in terms of a positive role model and also learning different ways of being creative.”

Mr. Davis’ work has been showcased internationally at film festivals and also on MTV, PBC and NBC.

The celebrated filmmaker will host the short story film ‘Wayward Son’ as well as the Malawi based documentary ‘The Warm Heart of Africa’ which will play in Rialto Cinemas.
