Melbourne Cup on Tour in
South Taranaki

The Cup that 'stops a nation' is coming to South Taranaki on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 October as part of the Emirates Melbourne Cup Tour 2011.
The Cup will first travel to Waverley, home of the 1983 Melbourne Cup winner Kiwi where it will be on display at the Waverley Primary School from 9 - 1030am and members of the public are invited to come along.
It will then head to Hawera to be on public display in the Town Square from 12.noon - 2 pm where 'punters' can follow their favourite celebrity jockey in the feature 'race of the day' with the Hawera Hobby Horse Handicap.
From there the Cup will be heading out to some of the Egmont Racing Club's activities leading up to their group three race meeting on Saturday including their golf tournament and charity Calcutta on Friday night. The Cup will then be a part of proceedings on race day (Saturday) before heading to Auckland after lunch.
Along with the 2011 Melbourne Cup,
Kiwi's 1983 Melbourne Cup and
Trainer's Cup, winning rug
and other memorabilia will also be on display.
The Cup is only travelling to three areas in New Zealand with Wellington and Auckland being the other two - so this is a great opportunity to be a part of some Australasian racing history.
