Get into Camping with The Great Annual Kiwi Camp Out 2011

Get into Camping with The Great Annual Kiwi Camp Out 2011

On Saturday 3rd December 2011 Kiwi Camping Co. Ltd. is encouraging New Zealand families to get into camping by participating in The Great Annual Kiwi Camp Out.

This special event is the first of its kind in New Zealand and will see hundreds of families uniting with friends, family, neighbours and community groups in a good ole Kiwi Camp Out with some registered groups exceeding 50 people. The twist is that registered groups can stage their Camp Out anywhere - at home, in the backyard, at the local campground or with a Scouts, school or community group.

Kelly Fredrickson, Marketing Manager at Kiwi Camping, says “It’s all about getting New Zealand families thinking about camping, realising how much fun it can be and getting into it to create family memories in a fun environment. Camping brings everyone back to basics and is a fantastic tradition that all New Zealanders should have the opportunity to experience.”

Anyone can participate. To be a part of the Camp Out event, simply visit www.kiwicampout.co.nz and register your family or group. Every registration will go in the draw to win a $5000 camping prize pack and a registration pack will be posted out with great camping tips and ideas plus information from the Camp Out supporters including Family Parks, Tip Top, Scouts NZ, More FM, Kiwi Camping and Omoto Fishing. There are also some great spot prizes up for grabs for Camp Out participants who share photos of their Camp Out on social networking sites.

Tips for Campers

1. Before buying a new tent or camping gear, remember to do some research into which brands will offer quality products and great after sales service. There is nothing worse than buying a cheap tent and it falling down around you and ruining your well deserved camping holiday.

2. Remember to pitch your new tent or put together your new camping cupboard BEFORE you go camping to familiarise yourself with how to put everything together. Most canvas tents need to be ‘weathered’ before using, so this is a must before you go away.

3. It’s wise to have a plan B in case the weather turns to custard. Plan some activities, take indoor games away with you and don’t forget some wet weather gear.
