Tour continues for final
stage
The 2011 PowerNet
Tour of Southland winner will be decided on the road this
afternoon.
A wintery blast forced the cancellation of this morning’s time trial at Winton but, following extensive checks of the course and consultation with local and national weather forecasters, organisers determined it was safe to run the final stage from Winton to Invercargill, starting as scheduled at 1.30pm.
The only change to the original 87km route is the removal of the final three laps of Queens Park, with the race now finishing when riders first reach Gala Street, removing 12km off the stage.
Official presentations will now be held at the ILT Velodrome in Invercargill at 4.30pm.
