Take a Break from Pre-Christmas Rush for some 'Art & Soul'

Take a Break from the Pre-Christmas Rush to Experience Some ‘Art & Soul’

Rotorua, 28th November 2011 - One of Rotorua’s most luxurious lodges is organising a unique art and entertainment event to help people relax at this busy time of year and raise money for charity in the process.

Hamurana Lodge Boutique Hotel will host ‘Art & Soul’ throughout the afternoon of Saturday 17 December. This pre-Christmas event will feature art pieces and sculptures from some of New Zealand’s top artists along an art trail, which will wind its way through the sprawling grounds.

Superb jewellery creations from Brenda Art, Wendy Whitehead and Joanne Gessler will be for sale and local Rotorua musicians and bands will also entertain the guests.

Hamurana Lodge manager Fred Novella says people are welcome to bring a picnic and relax in the immaculately manicured gardens. Wine will be available for purchase, provided by a local New Zealand winery and there will also be food stalls to cater for all tastes.

“It’s the perfect opportunity for those who are looking for a day to unwind, enjoy the surroundings and escape from the hectic pace of life leading up to Christmas,” Novella says.

A giant blue sculpture sitting at the front entrance of the property is already generating plenty of interest in ‘Art & Soul’. Other artworks and sculptures to feature on the art trail will include pieces by leading artists Bruce Young, Chris Moore, Duncan Leask, Trevor Nathan and Joe Kemp.

Tickets are available now and must be pre-booked as there will be no gate sales on the day. In an effort to encourage families to attend, the adult ticket price of $35 also includes entry for one child. Tickets can be bought online at www.hamuranalodge.com or from ‘Art & Soul’ sponsors Rotorua Florist, Design House and Advocate Printing.

In true community spirit, a portion of each ticket sold will be donated to the Ronald McDonald Family Retreat. Novella says Hamurana Lodge has been supporting this fantastic facility throughout its 24 months of operation.

“The Ronald McDonald Family Retreat is based within the Ngongotaha community and brings happiness to families from throughout New Zealand who have had to face the challenge of children with a serious illness or disability. We’ve been actively involved with several initiatives to support this very worthy cause.”

Hamurana Lodge is just a short drive north of Rotorua city and is easily accessible to guests throughout the Bay of Plenty. “We’ve tried to incorporate a local theme throughout, by involving local artists, musicians and fresh, locally grown produce,” explains Novella.

Hamurana Lodge Boutique Hotel has a well-deserved reputation for the highest standards in hospitality and welcomes visitors from around the world to enjoy its fine accommodation and cuisine.

“Our park-like setting is the perfect venue for outdoor activities and enjoying the summer sunshine so please join us for what will be a fantastic afternoon of art and entertainment.”
