For those about to laugh, we pre-warn you: Comedy Fest 2012
December 15, 2011
For those about to laugh – we pre-warn you…
2012 NZ International Comedy Festival
Remember 1993? A bygone era where Peter Jackson’s cinematic epic revolved around a zombified mum, Shortland Street readied every camera-loving person under the sun for a life as a New Zealand celebrity, and The Exponents “Why Does Love Do This To Me” hadn’t yet run its course…
1993 was also the year of the very first NZ International Comedy Festival, back then known as the ‘Laugh! Festival’ (for obvious reasons). And haven’t we all come a long way since 1993 – it’s Sir Peter Jackson now and the NZ International Comedy Festival gets more than 100,000 folks out for a laugh each year.
The 20th NZ International Comedy Festival will see an incredible array of talent coming over to our little antipodean paradise, alongside some of the best established and up-and-coming local comedians this country has to offer. The Festival is taking place in Auckland and Wellington from April 27 to May 20 2012. The Comedy Convoy will also hit the regions during the Festival and finishes up at the end of May.
And given that this year’s continuing trend of Festival shows selling out very early (what with 20 years of technological advances now at our fingertips and all), the New Zealand Comedy Trust would like you to take out your iPhone, iPad, iCal or iWhatever and mark down the following date:
Comedy Gala and First Laughs On Sale:
Thursday 1 March 2012
General Sale: Thursday 8 March
2012
Access to exclusive pre-sales by joining the mirth at www.comedyfestival.co.nz (again, something you can do on your iPhones, iPad, Android, Cyborg, Robocop… whatever device is the hot thing this summer.)
So now you have no excuse for missing out on the ever popular Comedy Gala (AKL), First Laughs (WTN) or any the fantastic talent that will be performing at the 20th NZ International Comedy Festival!
