Tekapo Resort Showcases Local Artist
The luxury Peppers Bluewater Resort in Tekapo is holding an exhibition of paintings by local artist Caley Hall.
Born in Invercargill, the former entertainer/DJ and current owner of Kimbell Garage Gallery, Caley took up painting just four years ago and is already making a name for himself internationally. He has recently sold paintings in China, Japan and as further afield as the United States and the UK.
Caley takes his inspiration from New Zealand artist Colin McCahon and famed American painter Jackson Pollock, creating large canvas pieces with layers of thick paint.
General Manager of Peppers Bluewater Resort, Alistair Munro, came across Caley’s work when he stumbled across the recently opened Kimbell Garage Gallery located just outside Tekapo.
“I was instantly struck by the colours of Caley’s paintings and the way they captured the colours of the Mackenzie District,” says Alistair. “The paintings are such a great fit with our resort, tying in beautifully with our unique landscape on the waters of Lake Tekapo and surrounded by the Southern Alps
“Caley’s three to six foot canvases have transformed our conference walls into an eye catching space for our guests who have been really taken by the artwork,” adds Alistair.
He says it is a growing exhibition that will continue to expand, gradually building from eight to twelve pieces.
Guests staying at Peppers Bluewater Resort through the months of February and March can experience a range of Caley Halls’ work in the stunning setting of Lake Tekapo. Locals and visitors are also welcome to stop in to the resort to take in the exhibition. All paintings on display are available for purchase.
General Manager Alistair Munro is also planning to feature other local artists in months to come.
