Risk mitigation expert Vicki Humphrey comes to New Zealand

The heartbreak thousands of Cantabrians have felt after losing valuable treasures and special heirlooms is turning into a timely lesson for all New Zealanders as a conservation expert visits New Zealand.

Vicki Humphrey, Head of Conservation at the National Museum of Australia, is bringing her expert knowledge in protecting collections from the threat of natural disaster to New Zealand. In partnership with Te Papa’s National Services Te Paerangi, and with support from EQC, Vicki will host a series of free public seminars on how to protect your treasures at home. Vicki will discuss the types of risks to your treasured possessions and provide information on how to treat these risks, prioritise treatments and better care for your valuables.

Vicki is looking forward to helping New Zealanders better protect their treasures. “I am repeatedly struck by the emotional value that is invested in family collections and treasures, and it’s important that items aren’t just ‘things’ – they have deep value to people. It truly is great to be able to help people care for their heritage in a practical way.”

Wellington – Te Papa, Thursday 22 March, 6.30pm
