Ashburton born Artist Janet de Wagt returns for Gallery exhibition

Janet has been a working artist for over 20 years, travelling around the world painting people, places and beautiful landscapes. Her latest exhibition titled “Painting the Land” reflects the landscape as she sees it, in all weathers sun, rain, or snow. Janet paints her work in situ which means on site, and doesn’t leave until it is finished, “completing the painting on location is a performance piece in itself” leaving just the signing of the work for the back of her truck.

In her latest collection of work Janet has been inspired by the people of the land, “The more I paint in the landscape on location the more I wonder and question the role of people on that landscape – who planted that tree there and why? How have people using the land affected it and how has the land been changed.” Janet will be present at the opening of her new exhibition on Saturday 21 April 1:30pm, and promises to give an entertaining and engaging floor talk; admission to the Gallery is free, all welcome.

Exhibition available for viewing 21 April – 10 June 2012
