Location Curation launches in Kiwiland with @NewZealand

The @NewZealand #LocationCuration project officially launched today, with this weeks curator @simont38 tweeting, "My name is Simon and I'm @newzealand for this week. The sun is rising in the east, it's going to be a good day!"

Inspired by the @Sweden project the idea is that each week a fresh voice from Kiwiland will take the helm of the @NewZealand Twitter account and, for seven days, broadcast stories, ideas, impressions and information that is somehow related to New Zealand. @NewZealand is based on the idea that a single voice cannot represent a country.

These country-specific, group-managed twitter accounts have really taken off since @Sweden first launched itself in December 2011, and have become identified under the Twitter hashtag #locationcuration.

Australia has @WeAreAustralia and @IndigenousX, Austria is @WeareAustria. The Basque Country is represented by @BasquesAbroad, and France with @WeAreFrance. In Germany, Munich spreads love from @MunichLovesU. The Irish broadcast from @ireland, as does Mexico from @curatorsmexico.

While @Sweden leads the way for the country of Sweden, little Sodermalm represents their Swedish town through @sodermalmsweden. The Brits have @PeopleOfUK covering the UK, but there's also @Bristol52 for Bristol, @PeopleofLeeds for Leeds, @londonisyours for London and @VisitNland for Northumberland. Ukraine's there too with @WeAreUkraine. And weighing in for the USA is @TweetweekUSA.

Visit Curators of New Zealand to apply or nominate a curator for the @NewZealand project!
