Vibrant Colour And Intricate Textiles Grace the Catwalk

Wellington Fashion Week’s second group show of the week proved to be a spectacular treat of colour and vibrancy.

Robyn Mathieson’s collection exploded onto the catwalk with vibrant colours that played on the idea of flirty colour blocking. The strong lines and prints were softened by the both the colour and fabric choices.

Males featured on the catwalk for the first time for Neverblack, dressed in finely tailored shirts and jackets, paired with pants that gave the casual vibe of a well-dressed gentleman. The girls wore neutral colours shown in stunning dresses and skirts.

Philippa&alice showed off intricate patterns, graphical print dresses and floral printed collars. The collection was a delight of promising summer fun, through beautiful cut dresses with graphical cut outs.

The Silence was...+ collection held gorgeous structure through the shirts, shorts and pants, with the detailing of the ever-popular cut outs that we are seeing on shirt shoulders and open backs.

Kelsey Genna brought girlie back and we are better for it. Her collection was true romance with pastels and a pop of vibrant rose-red. The floral detailing carried right through the collection from rosettes on dresses to petal skirting and rose cut detailing on dresses.

A sharp contrast from Genna, Storm’s collection was the dark palette that Wellingtontians adore. The colours and heavy layered looks were softened by just a glimpse of muted coloured patterns. Patterns replicated colours of winter stormy skies and sunsets.

Closing tonight’s Group Show B was Starfish; a stunning collection of warm colours with an earthy feel. The pants were beautiful tailored with line detailing that would flatter any woman’s body. All the garments had an effortless flare that was so graceful. [ENDS]
