Judd looks for good start to Xtreme challenge
Christchurch’s Jeff Judd will be looking to make a good start to the Rally Xtreme challenge when the series gets underway this weekend at Rally Wairarapa.
Judd will be piloting his Mk1 Ford Escort RS2000, with Nicole Summerfield calling the notes, in the classic class of the championship, which will also see him competing in the Malcolm Stewart Classic section of the Wairarapa event.
The event marks the start of a busy season for the Cantabrian, who will not only compete in the Xtreme challenge, but also the week long Silver Fern Marathon rally in which he will defend his title driving his Ford Escort RS1800. On top of that, just to show his versatility, Judd will also co-drive for Indonesian driver Subhan Aksa in selected rounds of the Production World Rally Championship.
“For us, the Xtreme series is a chance to go out and have a skid, use up some old tyres and have some fun,” says Judd. “But also with the Silver Fern moving to the north island for 2012, it gives us a good chance to check out some of the roads and hopefully have a bit of an advantage for that.”
Judd will run under the Stadium Cars Motorsport team banner for the Xtreme series with the support of long-time sponsors BNT, Fuchs, Lubricants, Waimate Pharmacy, Magnum Compliance Services, Silvester V8 Performance, Nichibo and Windscreens Nationwide. He will be joined later in the series by team-mate Tony Gosling, who will compete in a Ford Escort RS1800.
After an autograph session on Friday night,
Saturday sees the real action get underway with 129km of
special stages including Te Parae road, which will be the
‘power stage’ for the event and the completion of the
Rally Xtreme section of the event. Day two sees a further
110km of special stages before the finish at the Solway Park
resort just after
3.30pm.
