Sator Arts - Project Overview
There is something magical about being in the presence of a work of art.
My favourite time is when I have the opportunity to wander around a semi empty museum, or a quiet art gallery, alone, enjoying the work in its most pure essence.
I like not knowing everything in advance, I like the discovery and the unknown, and deciding by myself if I like something or not, without thinking about the value of a painting, or the story of a sculpture, or what has already been said about it.
Of course it is also great to share Art; the power of Art is nothing really if it is not shared with the ones we love and the rest of the world. That is what each artist does: share his or her vision with us, individually and with the whole of humanity.
How can we have the best of both worlds? How can we enjoy contemporary arts in a quiet and private space, and also be an active part of the conversation about it?
Sator Arts exists exactly to fulfil this dream, to reunite the two levels of the discourse about arts.
The Catalogue itself is the vehicle of a private and unique experience; the web platform gives it the element of social networking and information we crave to share.
There are no articles inside Sator Arts Catalogue. It is a clear space for you to explore and enjoy a collection of contemporary artworks at your own pace, facing the visual impact and power of the works alone.
Each piece is an original interpretation created by the Artists based on works from private collections: it can be seen, and owned, only through Sator arts Catalogue – Artifact.
Sator Arts Catalogue - Artifact is printed in a Numbered Limited Edition of only 1000 copies worldwide. Once you own a copy you can become the registered owner of that specific edition as a Catalogue Collector and be part of the conversation with the artists and the world.
Each copy is entirely produced and hand crafted in New Zealand and is available at the special launch price of 40NZD through our web site www.satorarts.com, or Gordon Harris Stores nationwide, Dymocks Newmarket, Te Papa Stores, Mag Nation stores, PaulNache Gallery in Gisborne, plus selected international hot spots in San Paulo Brasil, Milan and Rome Italy (including Palazzo delle Esposizioni), and San Francisco and New York in the United States.
When you open the sealed red Catalogue envelope and experience each work individually, you can choose to frame your favorite pieces, or gift them to someone; and if you wish to know more about the Artists or the artworks you can access articles, interviews, videos and more photos online.
A draft prototype of some online content is now available to the general public only for a limited period of time after which Subscribers and Catalogue Collectors will gain a separate gateway to their own exclusive insight into the world of the artists and each new project.
