The Vigilante by Jules Hamilton
Press Release: The Vigilante by Jules Hamilton
THE VIGILANTE is transmedia near-future thriller in which science has developed the technology to customize the human mind; Artemis Parker, a brilliant but troubled teenager on the run, has a problem with that.
If technology comes from
the mind, is it wrong to use it to improve the mind?
By
placing faith in technology do we lose faith in our
humanity?
This is by far the most ambitious project to come out of NYU Tisch's graduating class in the past few years. Still months from our August shoot dates we've already got a team of over 20 students working full time. We've got 6 days to go to raise the second half of our $70,000 Kickstarter goal. If we don’t raise the full amount by June 11th, we get nothing.
The Vigilante will be the third feature film-sized short film produced by our director Jules Hamilton (the first being Stealing Suburbia, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2011).
It is a full scale trans-media project, spanning multiple websites, social media, and graphic novels.
We’ve already had 8-days of production devoted to scenes-within-scenes, shooting infomercials, advertisements, and news reports that will feature in the final film. With these smaller productions out of the way, we’re now able to focus all our attention on principal photography.
We are
strong candidates for the $25,000 Sloan Grant
(awarded to a film that promotes science and technology) and
hope to compete for the Visual Effects Society student award
(recently presented by Steven Spielberg).
Our Kickstarter
campaign can be found here. Also check out our website and facebook page. We appreciate your
support very
much!
