Spookers Does Scary Better Than USA

Spookers Does Scary Better Than USA

Click for big version.

You might think that America is the home of Halloween and Haunted Houses, but after recently spending a week in Ohio visiting haunted attractions and attending trade shows on the act of scaring, Spookers owner Beth Watson can confirm that New Zealand does it better. Beth has been the only non USA director on the International Haunted Attraction Association for 6 years and has visited dozens of different attractions throughout America.

Spookers has many advantages that American owners miss out on because they are so locked into Halloween being a month long celebration. American haunts target whole families of all ages for their attractions, so they need to lower the scare level to suit. Spookers has very specific attractions for children, which leaves the R.16 attractions on Friday and Saturday night at a very high scare level for the adults. Spookers also appeals to corporate clients for functions and team building, something American haunts have been unable to capitalise on.

During the school holidays Spookers style is more similar to the traditional American Haunted House as it caters to children 8 years and older, but on Friday and Saturday nights it reverts to the full on extreme screams. Take advantage during the holidays and if the kids are beginning to drive you a bit barmy get them under control with some good old fashioned frights, and even birthday parties to impress the most cynical of modern kids.

Creepers is seriously creepy. A slightly toned-down family-friendly version of Spookers renowned haunted house, Creepers offers more thrills and (blood) spills than you can throw a machete at. Escape monsters and freaks as they threaten to overcome you with all sorts of evil… and the more screams, the better.

After surviving the Haunted House head to Disturbia where you'll be turned inside out and upside down. Disturbia is an unusual mind trip through an endless maze of fluorescent colours, floating and turning walls and floors, and freaky creatures (not to mention an evil clown or two). Creepers is held at Spookers, Karaka on Thursday the 5th and 12th of July any time between 7pm and 9pm.

For some freaky frightening fun during the day the family can experience a Terror Tour at Spookers, the scariest place this side of Gore. The Terror Tour, Secrets and Scares is a tour of the famous Spookers Haunted House, taken with an in-character Spookers actor. Experienced scare actors are able to change the level of scares and frights to suit the age of the victims. Older children will definitely love the experience, and will learn a lot of the behind the scenes secrets. There is some fairly graphic gore in several of the rooms, but the tour guide will make every attempt to vary the tour to suit the participant’s tolerance level. Please use your discretion. During the day you and your children can experience the crazy 3 dimensional artwork of Disturbia with the same lighting effects and unbelievable vortex tunnel, but without the actors that prowl the clown infested hallways during the R.16 shows.
