Phoenix Fc & Backbencher Supporting Kids Football
Phoenix Fc & Backbencher Supporting Kids Football
The Backbencher & Wellington Phoenix players Andrew Durante, Paul Ifill & newly appointed coach Chris Greenacre have combined to provide a coaching session for 20 aspiring 10-12 year old girls from the Onslow Football Club.
The session will take place on the Nairnville artificial turf on Friday, 27 July from 4-5pm.
The Backbencher, recently devastated by fire, have sponsored the event to support the development of children's football in Wellington.
The opportunity was made available at the Sony awards night by Phoenix players & endorsed by General Manager David Dome as a positive club & community initiative.
The lucky group of girls who all play in the Sunday " Girls Only Soccer League" at the Nairnville artificial turf are to meet & be coached by their footballing heroes.
They will also have the opportunity for autographs & photos with the players.
The Backbencher anticipates that a whole new generation of footballers will develop in Wellington due to the positive impact of the Phoenix & local community initiatives like the introduction of all weather artificial turfs such as has been installed at Nairnville park.
The Bacbencher has proudly been the official home base of "Yellow Fever", vociferous Phoenix & local football supporters.
The media are welcome to cover the event & interview the participating players/coaches.
