DIVING - Synesthesia EP
PRESS RELEASE:
DIVING - Synesthesia EP
Hell Is Now Love is excited to present the
debut EP from Wellington noise-rock duo Diving. Titled
Synesthesia, the release transposes their frenetic
live delivery into the realm of hi-fi, picking up where
their Oscilloscape / The Blue double-single left off
earlier this year. Swathes of feedback, delay and distortion
are Diving’s specialty, delivered in dense sonic
atmospheres which split the difference between post-rock and
“non-post”-rock.
Diving, the brainchild of guitarist Nick Erickson and drummer Rohan Hill, was born in 2010 out of a shared love of heroes such as HDU, Die Die Die and Jakob. Extended jam sessions with Nick’s ever-expanding collection of effects units resulted in an assortment of sprawling post-rock jams, which were whittled down into more cohesive songs as the band began gigging in 2011.
From there, the pair began to relentlessly immerse gig-goers in their sonic maelstrom, playing frequently around Wellington and occasionally heading north to Auckland and places in-between.
Synesthesia captures Diving at all ends of their sonic spectrum - from the blistering wall of guitar-noise on Entropy to the subtle, hypnotic roll of the poetic title track.
The EP will be avaliable from 24th October on extremely limited 10”, CD, and download from good independent stores or http://hellisnowlove.bandcamp.com
