Clean Sweep for TVNZ in Best Actors/ Actresses at TV Awards
TV ONE’s Sunday Theatre portfolio has won a remarkable 13 awards at the 2012 New Zealand Television Awards, including all four acting accolades.
Five awards have gone to Siege alone, with four to Tangiwai – A Love Story, three to Bliss – The Beginning of Katherine Mansfield and one for What Really Happened – Votes for Women.
Highlights in this collection of awards include the New Zealand on Air Best One-Off Drama prize, Best Script – Drama/ Comedy, Best Performance by an Actor for Mark Mitchinson and Best Performance by a Supporting Actress for Miriama Smith, all for Siege, while Sarah Wiseman took Best Performance by an Actress in What Really Happened – Votes for Women and Best Peformance by a Supporting Actor went to Mick Rose in Tangiwai – A Love Story. Images and Sound Best Director – Drama/ Comedy went to Fiona Samuel for BLISS – The Beginning of Katherine Mansfield.
However, it wasn’t just Sunday Theatre where TVNZ programming was judged the best. Other awards were spread across the network, with TV2’s Go Girls picking up the coveted Images and Sound Best Drama Series gong, while SPCA Rescue – Christchurch Earthquake Special won Best Observational Reality Series. Best Constructed Reality Series went to The Food Truck, and Best Factual Series was awarded to Radar Across the Pacific. In the Best Children’s/ Youth Programme Let’s Get Inventin’ got the prize, while Best Information Series went to Global Radar.
