The Trusts Arena Trailblazing Announcement
Tuesday 27
November
The Trusts
Arena has become something of a trailblazer with its
announcement today that it has signed agreements with a
number of ticketing agencies – a move which will result in
trickledown benefits for both clients and
patrons.
The Trusts Arena
CEO Brian Blake has instigated the multi-agency deal to
create a head-to-head competitive format in ticketing going
against the traditional one venue-one ticketing agency set
up.
“Like every other aspect of the entertainment industry, we are in competition with the computer at home,” Mr Blake said.
“We know the experience of coming to live events surpasses anything you can get out of watching the event at home so the key thing for us is to try and make the live experience more attainable and enjoyable.”
“A big part of that experience is price – and that’s what this move is all about.”
“We know that a constant aggravation for the public is the fees attached to ticketing.”
“By introducing competition between the ticketing agencies we will see those fees begin to fall.”
The Trusts Arena has inked deals with four ticket agencies – TicketDirect, Ticketek, Ticketmaster and Eventfinder.
The introduction of competition between the ticketing agencies, of course, also gives The Trusts Arena’s clients more choice – an important factor when it comes to selecting a venue.
“Clients want more choice,” Mr Blake said.
“Having that choice affords them the opportunity to select any combination of the four ticket agencies they want to work alongside, rather than have to pass on the venue because we are locked into a long-term and highly complicated ticketing deal with a solitary agent.”
“We have announced the change in ticketing strategy to some key people in the events industry and we are already taking calls from promoters who are all of a sudden keen to talk to us.”
“We knew the change would have an impact but our timeline for that was 12 months – not 12 hours!”
Next month’s Woodstock Honey Fight for Life will be the first event held under the multi-agency deal at The Trusts Arena.
Organisers Duco Events have engaged TicketDirect and Ticketmaster for the December 15 extravaganza.
“We took advantage of the opportunity and chose to work with two agencies for the Woodstock Honey Fight for Life,” Duco Events’ Director David Higgins said.
“For us it’s all about driving ticket sales and we’re confident the extra competition will help.”
“It’s a real credit to Brian Blake and his team that they have had the courage to make this move.”
“It will be an interesting test case for everyone involved.”
About Trusts Stadium
Arena
The Trusts
Arena is a multi-purpose facility with six
netball/basketball courts, a fully equipped gymnasium,
climbing walls, conference and bar facilities, rugby club
rooms, and an administration suite. It is the home of the
ANZ Championships’ Northern Mystics and has hosted Silver
Ferns tests, the 2007 Netball World Championships, and has
carved a niche as New Zealand’s premier boxing venue
thanks to the successful staging of David Tua and Shane
Cameron fights as well as being a long-time venue for Duco
Events’ Fight for Life. Its 5000 capacity also
means it’s big enough – without losing its intimacy
qualities – to be the first choice for a number of
entertainment acts which recently has included concerts
featuring UK pop sensations One Direction, Alice Cooper, The
Cranberries and Crosby Stills and Nash. The iconic Blondie
(November 29) and Ronan Keating (February 27) have upcoming
dates at The Trusts
Arena.
