Synopsis:
100 political cartoons that cover the final year of PM Helen Clark’s nine-year reign, and the first four years of John Key. The cartoons appear in chronological order. Using inkmarkers, pens, pencils and unusual texturing, artist Martin Doyle boasts a naive, aggressive style that bristles with raw energy. Although the style is far from the mainstream, the focus is very much on the key issues of a watershed period of modern New Zealand history. Whimsical, irreverent, slapstick, engaged with lashings of verbal wit.
